Mr. Philip Yeo
Chairman of the Board
Mr. Yeo is Chairman of the Standards, Productivity and Innovation Board (SPRING) in Singapore. A position he has held since April 2007. SPRING is a Singapore government agency responsible for helping Singapore Enterprises grow and building trust in Singapore products and services.
Mr. Yeo’s previous appointments were:
Chairman of the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) from January 1986 to January 2001 and Co-Chairman, EDB from Feb 2001 to March 2006. Mr. Yeo diversified the industrial sector of Singapore’s economy into the areas of data storage devices, semiconductors, petrochemicals and pharmaceutical products.
Chairman of Singapore Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) from February 2001 to March 2007. A*STAR is the lead agency for fostering world-class scientific research and talent for a vibrant knowledge-based and innovation-driven Singapore. A*STAR oversees 14 biomedical sciences and physical sciences and engineering research institutes, and six consortia & centres, located in Biopolis and Fusionopolis.
Senior Adviser for Science and Technology in the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore from April 2007 to September 2008. Special Adviser for Economic Development in the Prime Minister’s Office of the Government of Singapore from April 2007 to August 2011.
Founder Chairman of the National Computer Board from 1981 to 1987, Mr. Yeo played a leading role in formulating and championing Singapore’s first national computerisation plan to bring the nation into the information age.
Mr. Yeo served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Defence responsible for Defence Research, Technology and Logistics from September 1979 to December 1985.
Mr. Yeo holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto, Canada, a Master of Science in Systems Engineering from the Singapore University, and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University. He was a Canadian Colombo Plan scholar from 1966-1970, a United States Fulbright scholar from 1974-1976 and an Eisenhower Fellow in 1987.
Mr. Yeo received honorary PhDs from the University of Toronto, Canada, KarolinskaInstitutet, Sweden, Imperial College, UK, National University of Singapore and Monash University, Australia for his many years of work in economic and scientific development for Singapore. In 2006, Mr. Yeo was awarded the Order of the Nila Utama (First Class), the highest honour for public service in Singapore. In 2007, the Japanese government conferred on Mr. Yeo the Order Of The Rising Sun, Gold And Silver Star.
Mr. David Lim
Mr. David Lim is a Director of Ascendas India Trust and Wheelock Properties (Singapore).
His past roles include CEO of Jurong Town Corporation, CEO of the Port of Singapore Authority, CEO of the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park based in China, Group CEO of Neptune Orient Lines and Chairman of Jurong International.
Mr. Lim held political office from 1997 to 2006, in various capacities including as Senior Minister of State for Defence, and Acting Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts.
Mr. Lim graduated with 1st Class honours in Civil Engineering at the University of Melbourne under a Colombo Plan Scholarship. He obtained his MBA from the National University of Singapore.
Mr. Lim is also an Eisenhower Fellow.
Ms. Chong Siak Ching
Ms. Chong Siak Ching assumed the role of CEO of the National Art Gallery and Head of the Visual Arts Cluster, Singapore (comprising the National Art Gallery, Singapore Art Museum and the Singapore Tyler Print Institute) in April 2013.
Prior to this since 2001, she was the President and CEO of the Ascendas Group. Ascendas is Asia’s leading provider of business space solutions, developer and manager of integrated communities (comprising industrial/logistics/business/science parks and office/retail/hospitality facilities) with a strong regional presence across 30 cities in 10 countries across Asia. Its flagship projects include the Singapore Science Park, Changi City in Singapore, International Tech Park Bangalore in India, Dalian-Ascendas IT Park in China.
Ascendas is also the sponsor and manager of 3 listed trusts – Ascendas Real Estate Investment Trust (A-REIT), Ascendas India Trust (a-iTrust) and Ascendas Hospitality Trust (A-HTRUST), and several private real estate funds in Asia.
Ms. Chong is presently an Independent Director on the Board of Singapore Press Holdings, member of the National University of Singapore (NUS) Board of Trustees and Deputy Chairman of Singapore’s enterprise development agency, SPRING Singapore. She is a board member of Jurong Health Services and member of the Yale-NUS College Governing Board.
Ms. Chong graduated with Honours in Estate Management from NUS and was awarded a Gold Medal by the Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers. She obtained her MBA from NUS in 1991 and completed the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School in 1998.
Ms. Chong was conferred the NUS Distinguished Alumni Award by the Faculty of Architecture and Building Management in 1999 and the NUS Distinguished Alumni Service Award in 2009. She was recognized as ‘Outstanding CEO of the Year’ in the Singapore Business Awards 2009 for her leadership and dynamism in establishing Ascendas as Asia’s leading provider of business space.
Mr. Edward Alec D’Silva
Mr. Edward D’ Silva has more than 40 years of experience in city masterplanning, design and development. He is currently Senior Advisor of SAA Architects Pte Ltd. He joined SAA Architects in 1983 as its Executive Director where he was closely involved in the design and construction of many projects carried out in Singapore, Malaysia, India, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam and Brunei. He also coordinated various masterplanning studies and concepts of leisure/resort developments in Malaysia.
Mr.D’Silva started his career with the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore where his assignments included programming, land acquisition, clearance and resettlement of tenanted properties and urban design for the development of urban renewal projects within and outside the Central Area of Singapore. He was later appointed to represent the Working Committee for the Master Plan and conceptual design of the Singapore Marina Centre.
Subsequently, he was seconded to assist in the planning and design of the Nanyang Technological Institute and in 1982, he was seconded to the Provisional Mass Rapid Transit Authority (PMRTA) where he was involved in the design and planning of underground stations.
Mr. D’Silva serves on various high-level boards and committees. He is a Board Member of the Public Service Commission, Liquor Appeals Board, Strata Titles Board, National Institute of Education, Assisi Hospice, NUS Alumni Advisory Board, Singapore Anglican Community Services, Singapore Dance Theatre, NIE International Pte Ltd as well as Councillor for Central Singapore Community Development Council.
He is also Chairman of the Public Hygiene Council, Singapore Youth Award panel and the Publications Consultative Panel (MDA). He serves as a Volunteer as well as a Director of the Prisons Fellowship Service and is also a Justice of the Peace.
His past board appointments include the Board of Architects, the Construction Industry Development Board, and the Board of Trustees at the National University of Singapore (NUS) as well as Member of the Presidential Council of Advisors for Religious Harmony. He was formerly President of the Singapore Institute of Architects and Chairman of the Construction IT Committee.
Mr. Silva graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from NUS and is registered as a Licensed Architect with the Board of Architects Singapore. He is also a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Architects, Fellow of Society of Project Managers and Member of the Royal British Institute of Architects.
Mr. Abel Ang
Chief Executive Officer
Abel is Chief Executive Officer of EDIS, a position he has held since 2013. He was formerly Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Singbridge International, a Temasek Holdings vehicle that invests in, manages and develops large-scale integrated cities outside Singapore. Prior to that, Abel was President, Asia/Pacific for Hill-Rom Inc, a NYSE listed medical devices company (NYSE: HRC), where he was responsible for expanding Hill-Rom’s presence in the high growth Asia/Pacific markets. He also served as Hill-Rom’s Chief Technology Officer for 3 years where he was responsible for Hill-Rom’s global R&D operations distributed across sites in the U.S., Mexico, France, and Singapore. He was also Vice-President and General Manager of Hill-Rom’s US$420M Global Surfaces and Therapy Business Unit; and Vice-President for International Business and Technology Development.
Before joining the commercial sector, Abel headed the global Medical Technology and Biotechnology industry groups in the Singapore Economic Development Board’s Biomedical Division and spent 3 years in EDB’s European Operations based in Frankfurt, Germany.
Abel sits on the Board of Exploit Technologies which provides access to Singapore’s largest pool of intellectual property and knowledge generated by over 2,000 researchers at A*STAR’s research institutes. In addition, he sits on the Boards of the following Accuron Medical Device Operating companies: Dornier Medizintechnik, Veredus Pte Ltd, and Advanced Materials Technologies (AMT) Pte Ltd.
Abel is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Nanyang Business School in Singapore and Waseda University in Japan, where he teaches in their respective MBA programs.
Abel has a Master of Science in Computational Biology from Rutgers University in New Jersey, which he pursued while on an EDB scholarship. He attended Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program in 2012.
